Iron Man 4 - Status as of May 2026*
There’s no official _Iron Man 4_ happening.
Marvel Studios hasn’t announced it, and Kevin Feige has been clear that Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark story ended with _Avengers: Endgame_. Feige said: “We are going to keep that moment and not touch that moment again”. The Russos also said they promised Downey it would be the last time.
*What’s actually happening with RDJ:*
- RDJ is returning to the MCU, but as *Doctor Doom*, not Iron Man.
- He’ll appear in _Avengers: Doomsday_ on Dec 18, 2026 and _Avengers: Secret Wars_ on Dec 17, 2027.
- Marvel’s contract reportedly includes massive pay, private jet, and security.
*Why no Iron Man 4:*
1. *Story reason*: Tony Stark died in _Endgame_. Marvel wants to preserve that ending.
2. *Legacy plan*: Iron Man’s legacy continues through _Armor Wars_ and _Ironheart/Riri Williams_.
3. *Fan concept trailers exist*: There are fan-made “Iron Man 4” trailers on TikTok/YouTube with RDJ as Tony waking up post-Endgame, but those aren’t official.
*The old “Iron Man 4” rumors:*
Back in 2014-2015, RDJ did say on Ellen that “okay, yes” when pressed about Iron Man 4. But that was before _Civil War_, and nothing ever came of it. By 2019, Favreau confirmed there were no talks.
